Aquatics - Keeping Aquatics in your Home

Aquatics are becoming an increasingly popular features in people’s homes in terms of things like aquariums and tropical fish. It is important to understand the principles of aquatics if you plan to keep them in your home.

Aquatics can refer to all sorts of marine features that can be found in people’s homes and gardens but, generally speaking, the most commonly utilised form of aquatics is that of aquariums and the tropical fish that are used to fill them.

Aquariums are obviously being seen more and more in people’s houses as the benefits associated with owning fish becomes increasingly revealed. There are many arguments that point to the stress relieving capacity that is associated with owning aquariums with tropical fish and it is little wonder that these are two of the most popular forms of aquatics being bought by consumers today.

As with all aquatics, however, it is important to know how to properly look after your equipment in order for it to function at an optimum level and there are a variety of things that need to be taken into account when you have taken the decision to install an aquarium and tropical fish into your home.

Aquatics - How to Introduce Marine Fish into an Aquarium

So far as aquatics go, one of the most important elements to take on board is to learn how to properly introduce new tropical fish into an aquarium so that they are not adversely affected by the experience. Generally speaking, there are two ways that aquatics experts recommend that you introduce tropical fish into aquariums. These being:

  • Dipping - Some aquatics experts recommend that you ‘dip’ your newly acquired tropical fish into aquariums in order to acclimatise them. Essentially what this means is floating the unopened bag with the tropical fish inside in your aquarium to let it get accustomed to the temperature and surroundings of the tank. In addition, aquatics experts suggest slowly introducing water from the aquarium into the bag over the course of about 30 minutes before finally releasing the tropical fish into the aquarium.
  • Dripping - Other aquatics experts believe that a dripping method is more applicable when it comes to introducing tropical or marine fish into aquariums. This is a considerably more convoluted method which involves placing the tropical fish in a bucket and feeding air tubing into the bucket to replicate the conditions of the aquarium. It is suggested by aquatics experts that after around 2 hours or so, the tropical fish will be ready to be introduced into the aquarium.
