Specialised bacteria develop within the Sulphur Nitratreductor that utilise sulphur as an energy source to remove nitrate. As a by-product, sulphuric acid is produced which is neutralised by the Hydrocarbonate in the filter. The Sulphur Nitratreductor is recommended for aquariums up to 400 litres (100 gallons)
